About TNT Mexico

TNT Mexico is a pay-TV channel, owned and operated by Warner Media Entertainment. It is a sister channel to the American television channel TNT. The feed available in Mexico was launched in the mid-1990s, with its programming being focused on airing movies, awards ceremonies, concerts, TV series, sports, and documentaries. Middle-age adults are the channel’s main target audience.

Over the years, TNT has changed some of the features available on its shows. Initially, movies and series were dubbed to the country’s language, but that was eventually changed, as an option to use the original language was added on some pay-tv carriers. Now, users can decide if they want to watch the program dubbed in their native language, with or without subtitles, or on the show’s original language. Broadcast rights, especially for sports, differ between all Latin American countries, which means that a show aired by TNT Argentina may not necessarily be available in the Mexican feed.

Speaking about sports, TNT Mexico has sporadically included football and basketball games on its general programming. Football competitions covered by TNT in Mexico have included Copa Libertadores games and Superliga Argentina matches. The Supercopa Argentina clash between Boca Juniors and River Plate held in 2017 was also aired on this channel, earning one of the highest ratings in this channel’s history.

TNT Mexico started broadcasting their shows on Standard Definition format, but a High Definition feed was made available for users to watch since 2009. A downscaled version of the HD feed is available for users who still use Standard Definition TV sets.
