About MUTV

MUTV is a TV channel owned and operated by English club Manchester United. The channel launched in September 1998 as a joint venture between BSkyB, defunct British conglomerate Granada Media plc – now ITV plc – and the club itself.

At the time, MUTV was available on Sky digital in the UK and Ireland, with plans to roll out on digital terrestrial and cable television. Though the channel’s programming was limited to evening content between 6pm and midnight, it was the very first daily television channel dedicated to a single football club in the world.

Today, MUTV operates as a 24/7 multi-platform channel available globally, with wide variety of programs, including documentaries, live press conferences from Manchester United’s managers, exclusive player interviews, as well as in-depth first-team match analysis and commentary.

In addition to that, MUTV also airs live games from the club’s Reserve and Academy sides. For the first team, highlights and full replays are available for matches they play in the Champions League, Premier League and domestic cups. However, live coverage is usually restricted to off-season games such as friendlies played during the club’s pre-season tour, due to programming rights restrictions.

MUTV’s TV schedule also includes the broadcast of classic matches, magazine shows, programs around the club’s Women’s side. Much of the fresh content produced on the channel, including news bulletins, is made possible thanks to studios hosted at Old Trafford and the AON Training Complex in Carrington.

MUTV is available via satellite on SKY UK Channel 418 (SD/HD) and Channel 870 (SD); via cable on Virgin Media (UK) Channel 526 and Channel 428 for Irish viewers. It comes on Foxtel Channel 518 in Australia, and on Canal+ Channel 52 in Myanmar. In Portugal, it is available on meo on Channel 97, both on satellite and IPTV.

Speaking of IPTV providers, MUTV is available in Hong Kong and is included in Now TV’s channel listings on Channel 640, whereas in Saudi Arabia, it is accessible through STC’s basic package.

All around the world, MUTV can be watched online on PC and Mac with a subscription via the direct stream on Manchester United’s official website. Mobile streaming is also provided for mobile users via the channel’s iOS and Android apps. In 2018, the club expanded MUTV’s coverage to Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Roku and Xbox.

The list of football legends who have helped enhance MUTV’s coverage as presenters and pundits include Irish ex-full back Denis Irwin and ex-Manchester United striker Andy Cole.
