DAZN Canada was announced in July 2017 by then-operator Perform Group—now DAZN Group—when it was confirmed that the sports subscription service had secured a massive deal with the National Football League (NFL) in Canada. In August that year, reports indicated that it had acquired broadcast rights packages from BeIN Sports, earning the rights to a bundle of sports competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Canada.

In December 2018, the network was in the news again after snatching the Premier League rights in Canada from ex-holders TSN and Sportsnet, who had covered the English first division on TV and online for many years beforehand.

DAZN Canada first launched with a monthly subscription fee of 20 CAD, with an annual package available for 150 CAD. Subscribers also had the opportunity to try the streaming service at no cost for the first 30 days.
